Do classes run by school terms?

What days are the sessions?

Mondays and Wednesdays, with a view to starting up a 3rd day in the future if there is enough demand.
What are the times and how flexible are you with arrival and leaving times?

Creative Connections art studio will be open from 3pm - 6pm on Mondays and Wednesdays. Your child can arrive and leave any time that suits you and them within that period, on the days they are booked in for.

They can hop off the school bus, get dropped off or walk/ride to the studio.

Where is the studio?

Creative Connections operates in Mandy's stand alone studio beside her home at 3 Butler Lane, Mangawhai Heads.

The art studio is the building on the right of the house. Please walk up the concrete drive and up to the little stairs to the studio door at the back of the studio and come on in!

Parents are welcome to come in for drop off or pick up.
What are the drop off and pick up procedures?

Parking, drop off and pick up on the main road at 275 Molesworth Drive or outside the Christian Campground across the road.

No stopping or parking in Butler Lane or in our driveway please.

Children can walk in to the studio on their own or parents are welcome to join them.
What happens if my child is sick or can't attend?

Why do I have to book 5 sessions at a time?

Booking 5 sessions allows time for your child to connect and settle in

Our goal is for everyone to feel like the studio is a happy place for them and they look forward to their time there every week.

Another goal of ours is for young people to keep returning for many months (or years!) to help build their personal artistic practice, confidence and creative skills.
Can I book for more than 5 sessions?

You can book for 5 weeks (5 sessions) or 10 weeks (10 sessions)

Talk to Mandy if you would like to book 2 sessions a week. This could be an option if there are enough spaces.
Do you offer one-off trials?
-
We believe children of this age need more than 1 session to adjust to a new experience and encourage you to book for 5 sessions.

However, you are able to book a trial which would allow your child to observe a session for a period of time of your choice and get a feel for the vibe and content

They will complete an accessible art activity at the trial (if they want to)

If your child is keen after attending a trial you can then book and pay for your mentoring package of 5 or 10 weeks if there are available spaces.

$20 cash on the day for a trial
How do I book for a trial?

Email Mandy your name, your child's name, their age and the date you would like to attend the trial (Monday or Wednesday)

These trials are also about having a chance to meet everyone - You're welcome to pop in with them for the trial!
How does the class run?

We don't start the session with a formal, structured 'teaching time'

Each class member will work independently and choose what they would like to work on after 1-1 discussion with Mandy

Impromptu teaching sessions will happen throughout as needed

1-1 time will be given to all students as needed
-
Students may work together at times if appropriate

Plans will be made for the next session and materials ordered if necessary

Students can continue working on their projects at home if they want to
-
All work is taken home if dry and brought back the following week

Art projects will be initiated by Mandy if the student isn't sure what to do
Can I pay weekly?

If classes are only accessible for your family if you pay weekly, talk to Mandy about this option.
